Is refusing overtime after hours and on the weekend affecting me in attracting more money in my life?

Most likely, yes.

But not for the reason you think.

One of my favorite quotes is from Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right”.

Ford’s quote reminds me of the fundamental concept behind the LoA: We create our reality by our thoughts. Read more

How important is the role of doubt of skepticism in the pursuit of science and philosophy, and living one’s everyday life as a citizen and individual?

I’m attracted to this question because of the concept it represents. Rather than the terms doubt or skepticism, I’ll use the term critical thinking.

Critical thinking is the ability to discern for oneself what is useful, true or accurate. It’s a valuable and healthy skill that stems from self-esteem and self-love. It’s an openness to new ideas, and attention to the “feeling” of the new idea as the basis for accepting or rejecting it. It involves the process of applying reasoning when considering new ideas.

Critical thinking skills seem to be on the endangered species list pretty much throughout the world. And that’s because they go against the grain of religions, political parties, and governments.

These entities want to tell you what and how to think. They abhor critical thinking skills because if you were to deeply consider and apply reason to their dogmas, you may come to the realization that their dogmatic ideals often don’t represent truth, or serve the best interest of you and your loved ones.

These organisations intend to inspire doubt and skepticism within their followers, so that whenever an idea presents that has the least possible conflict with their rigidly-defined beliefs, it is rejected without thinking. Without applying our uniquely human faculty of reasoning, to consider the new idea on its merits. They would far prefer that their followers not have that reasoning capability.

If you think about it, this is a form of group hypnosis that serves to manage and control the thoughts of their followers. To keep those thoughts within a narrowly defined box, and reject any ideas outside that box.

And so, you won’t find critical thinking skills on the curriculum of any public school that’s funded by the government. There have been times when such a subject has come forward for consideration, only to be powerfully rejected by conservative politicians. And why not? Teaching critical thinking would literally pose a huge threat to their established way of being!

Here are a couple examples. Read more

Does romantic love always require sexual attraction?

In my own personal experience (which I suspect is true for many other men) – if I’m not physically attracted to a woman, it’s not likely I’ll engage in an intimate (romantic) relationship with her.

Yes, we might interact frequently (as in a career-related relationship) and I might gain a deep respect and admiration for her which borders on agape love… but until and unless she seems “hot” to me – meaning an attraction that stirs my body chemistry – I’m not liable to pursue a romantic connection.
